A Seminar for postgraduate students in the Civil Engineering Department

The Department of Civil Engineering/ College of Engineering, Al-Anbar University organised, in the presence of

Associate professor Akram Shaker Mahmood and within the scientific and cultural curriculum (first semester) of

the school year 2018/2017, a seminar entitled:

Flexural capacity and behaviour of reinforced concrete beams strengthened by

localized unsymmetrical CFRP Sheets

The event was held on the college's central hall on Tuesday, 28/11/2017.

The postgraduate student (Ahmad Haytham Mohy) delivered a presentation for his research project,

which is a structural study of beams asymmetrically reinforced by carbon sheets, as concrete products that are

exposed to stress during their design life and need a change in the loading function need to be supported to

increase their endurance. The method referred to is unique and is researched within many research projects to

produce a definitive version of a tool and design equations for such cases.

It should be noted that this research project was approved by the Scientific Committee in the

department and was conducted under the supervision of associate professor Dr. Akram Shaker Mahmoud, the

head of the department. The proposals made during the panel discussion were approved along with what will

be concluded from the mentioned study.

The panel was attended by the Chairman, the members of the Scientific Committee, all the teaching

staff of the department and the postgraduate students, research and preparatory stages.
