Public Defense of Master’s Student Mohammed Yaseen Mahmood at the Department of Mechanical Engineering

The public defense of the Master’s student Mohammed Yaseen Mahmood from the Department of Mechanical Engineering was held on Sunday, September 7, 2025, at Al-Jazari Hall, for his thesis entitled:
“Numerical Analysis of Hydrothermal Performance for Non-Newtonian Liquid Flow in Concentric and Eccentric Annular Cylinders”.
The Examination Committee was composed of the following members:

Prof. Dr. Saad Mohammed Jaleel – Chair

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Iyad Mahmood Salman – Member

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Haitham Kamil Dawood – Member

Prof. Dr. Waleed Mohammed Abd – Member and Supervisor

The study aimed to conduct a numerical analysis of the hydrothermal performance of non-Newtonian liquid flow in concentric and eccentric annular cylinders, as well as to perform optimization to determine the best design among several alternatives, by employing the Response Surface Methodology (RSM) integrated with Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD).

The defense was attended by the Dean of the College, Prof. Dr. Ameer Abdulrahman Hilal, the Associate Dean for Scientific Affairs, Prof. Dr. Mohammed Abd Ahmed, the Head of the Department, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Khaldoon Fadhel Braitha, along with several faculty members and postgraduate students of the department.
Following a thorough and detailed discussion, the student successfully passed the defense and was awarded the degree of Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering with the grade of Satisfactory/Pass.

Congratulations to the student on obtaining his degree, with best wishes for his continued academic journey, and sincere appreciation to the Examination Committee for their efforts and guidance.
