The public defense of the Master’s thesis submitted by the graduate student Zina Mahdi Saleh was held in the Department of Mechanical Engineering on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at Al-Jazari Hall. The thesis was entitled:

“Thermal and Hydrodynamic Analysis of Oscillatory Flow in Periodic Surface Heat Exchangers.”

The examination committee consisted of the following members:
    •    Prof. Dr. Mohammed Abdul Ahmed — Chair
    •    Prof. Dr. Basim Hamid Aboud — Member
    •    Asst. Prof. Dr. Muhannad Abdulaziz Abdulrahim — Member
    •    Prof. Dr. Saad Mohammed Jalil — Member and Supervisor

The study aims to conduct a numerical analysis of the thermal and hydrodynamic performance of oscillatory flow inside tubes with corrugated surfaces under a variable heat flux. The analysis focuses on investigating the effect of the geometric configuration of the tube surface and the oscillatory flow parameters on the heat transfer rate and pressure drop under various operating conditions.

The defense was attended by the Dean of the College, Prof. Dr. Amir Abdulrahman Hilal, the Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Asst. Prof. Dr. Khaldoun Fadhil Britha, as well as a number of faculty members and postgraduate students from the department.

Following an extensive discussion by the examination committee, the thesis was accepted, and the candidate was awarded the Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (Power Engineering specialization) with a Satisfactory grade.

The committee wishes the candidate continued success and prosperity.
